Get Yourself Active announces new partnership with The University of Birmingham

Monday 20 March 2017

Get Yourself Active is pleased to announce a new partnership with the University of Birmingham.

The new partnership is designed to promote and enhance teaching between the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University and Get Yourself Active.

The partnership will see research led by disabled people for the purposes of Get Yourself Active, with the possibility of further research opportunities for Disability Rights UK.

This relationship will provide students at the University with the opportunity to carry out projects which are both beneficial for them and aligned to the aims of Disability Rights UK.

Both organisations are excited to work together and look forward to discovering other opportunities for collaboration which are valuable for everyone involved.

We hope to share some of our research plans soon so please sign up to GYA e-news for updates.

  1. As a wheelchair user for the past 25 years (rheumatoid arthritis), I am interested in your research topic. During this period, I have never found even any information on how to exercise as a wheelchair user – except for a tai-chi video from a rheumatologist – let alone had any opportunity to participate in any suitable exercise.

  2. I am very interested in this, particularly as I have just started attending a water movement class only to find out the pool is ‘going cashless’ meaning a lot of those who currently attend feel they will no longer be able to as they don’t hold debit or credit cards
